Review on Genie ChainGlide Connect Smart Garage Door Opener by Charles Dean

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy setup once you conquer the assembly

The hardware install was fairly straightforward but it was a bit of a trick keeping the chain untangled and starting at the right end of it. My old opener didn't have the optical sensors so they were extra work. I am a little concerned that they are vulnerable to being kicked or knocked by the snowblower, etc.I was really pleased with the easy way you set the open and close adjustments (no knobs to twist like on my old Stanley) and the reversing force was automatically set too. The wifi setup worked OK but it was a pain getting my phone to link up with the opener. It kept sensing that the opener didn't have internet access so it kept reverting to my home network before I could get the opener configured. The instructions were a little obtuse when it came to setting up the wifi, it wasn't clear what lights were supposed to signify what (now I know that green led inside the right lamp compartment means your wifi is OK, red at the same location means it isn't on wifi). I was also concerned that the big button that goes on the wall had a red light, but apparently that doesn't mean anything bad, its just red.
