I bought this rake because of its versatility. I like the smaller size for my narrow flower bed and need the larger extended size for a project to fix the hole my dog dug in our yard and replant the grass. I live in Florida so I work with a mix of mostly sand and soil. The rake has done a great job with my flower bed and light top soil work for replanting grass. I believe it will work well for light leaf raking and if my kids want to help with the raking it can easily be adjusted to a size that fits everyone whatever. I was primarily using a shovel to fix a hole in the yard but wanted a rake to smooth things out. This rake was difficult to work in moving soil. I was able to narrow the head and move heavier floors with it, but the handle still loosened and shortened a few times, and when I fanned the head the spikes twisted and I had to fix them. It was a simple fix and once tweaked it worked better. This is a great tool for any gardener.
