This is my second air quality meter. My first one wasn't very useful because it only measured humidity/temperature/pressure/and volatile organic compounds. Solid particles were not considered at all. I have a lot of HEPA filter air purifiers at home and wanted to check how good my air quality really is. impair health and irritate the eyes, nose and throat; Asthma, bronchitis, other respiratory diseases; Heart and lung diseases, heart attack and even stroke. Particulate matter, unlike larger particles that are not easily inhaled, is extremely dangerous because the particles are so small that they can bypass the nose and throat, penetrate deep into the lungs and enter the circulatory system. This monitor measures PM2.5 (fine particles less than 0.5 microns in diameter, which is approximately 3% the diameter of a human hair) and PM10 (fine particles 10 microns or less). Both PM2.5 and PM10 particles come from cars, airplanes, power plants, residential wood burning, forest fires, agricultural waste burning, construction dust, landfills, open country dust, industrial sources, etc. They are either released directly into the environment. air, or are formed by the interaction of gases and particles. The counter is very easy to use. The user interface includes only a few basic buttons and simultaneously displays both PM2.5 and PM10 values. Just press the button and it starts measuring. Thanks to the illuminated interface, the meter can be used in total darkness. The air pollution level is displayed on the back of the meter. There are 6 PM2.5 pollution levels: Good (0-35 µg/m3), Moderate (36-75 µg/m3), Unhealthy - (76-115 µg/m3), Unhealthy (116-150 µg/m3) , Unhealthy + (151-250 µg/m3) and Dangerous (>250 µg/m3). After the measurement is complete, the lower part of the display will show you whether your air is good, moderate, unhealthy or dangerous. A downside of the user interface is that it is not silent and pressing the keys makes a rather loud noise. I've used this monitor a few times and measured particulate matter inside and outside the home. Readings are very low indoors where I've run several air purifiers (1-4 micron range) and pretty good outdoors (10-19 micron range). I live in a very wooded area with little traffic so I want to be confident that the readings are accurate and that the air quality is within normal ranges both indoors and outdoors! However, I was still expecting the numbers to go up slightly every time a car drove by, but that didn't happen. In fact, sometimes they fell. I was a little confused about this. The meter comes with a storage box and a charger. I appreciate being able to store everything in our suitcase.
