My whole foot was soft, the most comfortable athletic shoe I've ever had. I've taken them hiking to give my ankles extra support and protection, but today we took our little dachshund for a sidewalk walk. It also worked well on the road. Not as thick as my hiking boots but still comfortable and didn't tire my feet after our 2 mile walk. The foot padding is neither very thick nor thin, but there is good medium support in between. So soft and comfortable on the foot. The sock was almost gone when I put it on for the first time as I would expect from the size chosen and the skin stretches and I love the custom fit. I don't like that my socks are too long. No hacks. I wore cotton socks, nothing rubbed or irritated anywhere. My only regret is that I don't need another pair right away because I would love to get a pink pair too! You can see them in 3 photos.
