This pump looks and works well. I keep it in my old shallow (27ft) hand dug well, the bottom of which is in a plastic bucket to keep sand and sediment out. I know this design is for a 5" or larger case well, but my fitting is working fine. Due to the multi-year Northern California drought, my well was very low and allowed to dry out. Old shallow well The jet pump was having trouble getting water through by itself to lift suction and direct it into a 30-50 lb head tank.Submersible pumps can lift water much further because they push from the bottom instead of sucking from the top.Use this pump with an optional Hallmark pump regulator/guard that automatically protects the pump from running dry while still producing the maximum daily water supply. This is perfect for my rim well situation. This pump does not require a control box like the starting capacitor does, whereas with this design the entire pump requires replacement if the capacitor fails (which eventually will be the case will), the low cost of the pump makes the replacement economical if you s do it yourself. h Stamped pump and separate protector. Time will tell about the durability. Hallmark is a marketing company with US offices in the Midwest. Its products are made in China.
