The manufacturer claims that the pump's life expectancy exceeds the warranty by two years, even though the switch has to be replaced every two years. In my experience, the switch fails every three years, although lifespan is very dependent on how often the pump is run. Also, after 5 years I found that the seal around the shifter had failed, necessitating a replacement of the pump cover/switch/cable assembly. Generally, I ran these pumps for up to nine years before replacing them. However, the pump was still running, but I felt that the power delivery suffered. In general, these pumps will last a long time with a little maintenance.
