Complete nonsense. I haven't finished installing the first one but I'm so disappointed that I bought a quality product and terrible installation guide. Quality - not installed and already chipped. Small bubbles or cavities in the paint have already broken off and exposed bare metal. Installation becomes a nightmare. 4 holes have been drilled so far and I just got them to align side to side. The instructions say 8 1/8" between the holes, but they are 8 1/4" apart. How far you need to drill from the edge of the panel is up to you. IF you want to buy them, make a template (yes, templates are NOT included). Create a template from actual measurements, not instructions. Use a colored pencil to draw where the edge of the board will meet the step once it is firmly seated. This will give you an idea of how far from the edge to drill the holes. As I said, 4 holes and no fasteners. My panel is like Swiss cheese. Now I don't know if the integrity of the panel is enough to withstand the load. I wish I knew the install would fail. I would start on the passenger side, which is rarely used to develop a game plan. I will definitely steer everyone away from Bully products.
