Review on Enhanced Comfort and Support: Adjustable Elite Strap for Oculus Quest 2 Headband by Anthony Woolley

Revainrating 2 out of 5

A good replacement for the original, but there are serious flaws

First impression I really wanted to like it. In terms of design and simple yet elegant improvement, it came closest to an official Oculus 2 strap replacement. Unfortunately, my official Oculus 2 strap broke (a common problem with the first generation, will check another time). The first thing that struck me is a couple of parts for the actual parts that attach to the headset. This bothered me because more detail usually means more errors. The straps that attach to the sides of the Oculus 2 are two additional separate pieces that snap together to form a clip that attaches to the headset itself. These parts are very difficult to fit together, and even when aligned, they offer extreme resistance to mating. It seemed like a very silly improvement. In addition to the details, there were also problems. While adjusting one side, the other gave me a big and what an uncorrectable mistake I can think of. Unfortunately the parts didn't fit together perfectly and the clip appears to be permanent once assembled. A picture shows 4 internal clips, one of which is misaligned and preventing full connection, which so far is mostly causing cosmetic issues, but also just not connecting properly, which sucks for me, and when I tried to fix it, found that the other clips didn't unzip well. This caused quite a big "bad luck" situation. The whole process seemed unnecessary and of poor quality. Other issues: The ligaments connecting the back to the front (which run along the sides along the ears) feel very weak and brittle. A form of reinforcement benefits the design. However, the edges of the same straps are surprisingly sharp. The edges don't appear to be beveled at all. And for some reason, my only problem was the straps chafing on my ears. With a sharp edge, it was very inconvenient. The "tighten/loosen" handle on the back to make the straps longer or shorter also feels very flimsy and awkward. Also the appearance of the belt unlike other belts that have part of the belt mechanism. A small problem, but still a bit clumsy. Overall better than the straps that come with the Oculus, but not by much. And not worth the cost (will be updated when I use it more for actual game use)
