These lights are very bright and visible from a very far distance. However, they aren't great for illuminating the area around the light. They throw far but don't flood. This was perfect for what I wanted, good clear lighting on my dock so I don't have to worry about any boaters crashing into it at night. The are perfect for this. The only problem I have is they are so bright they interfere with my ability to look at the sky at night. I'm probably going to reduce the number of lights or space them differently to help. I tried to take a photo but they are so bright they caused glare.
