I live in the Pacific Northwest and anything that stays wet tends to smell sour or rancid. My fondness for using a sponge in the kitchen was a problem. All the others I've tried have only survived a few days without an odor, and that's in our beautiful, glacial clear water. I had to buy a huge bag of Costco sponges, blue ones, and they smelled rancid quickly. I found these Brillo sponges by accident. They never smell or spoil. Never! The sponge material is very easy to wring out under a tap. When wiping the countertop, they leave a little more water on the surface. Overall, I am sure that the sponge is hygienic and odorless for reuse.
