I also have a USB 3.0 version of this dock. I'm very happy with version 3.0, but they screwed up version 3.1 a bit. The USB cable is too short. I have to place the docking station on the floor under my desk to access the USB port on the back of my desktop computer. In version 3.0, the cable was long enough to put the device on a desk. It reminds me of Green Acres where the guy had to climb a telephone pole to answer the phone because there weren't enough wires. The switch is located between the two ports (power and USB) on the back panel. This makes it difficult to access back and forth. Believe it or not, I don't like leaving anything on all the time, and I don't like plugging and unplugging drives while the device is powered on. The power switch must be in the front. The slot orientation is 90Β° compared to version 3.0. I haven't had time to get used to it, but I prefer the slots alignment in version 3.0. Why do manufacturers change anything when they had a near-perfect design? The only change they needed in version 3.0 was the placement of the power button on the front panel. Instead, they buried the power button even further, gave us a cable that was too short, and changed the orientation of the slot.
