Need fan for hard drive case

Great idea in a small case. However, it is advertised as being able to clone drives up to 10TB. I was trying to clone a nearly full 3TB drive and at around 75% the drive was so hot it stalled. Luckily, no boot drive was cloned, just a bunch of data in the form of photos and videos. After it cooled down, I installed the partially cloned drive into my computer's empty bay instead of trying to clone it from scratch again. and connected the Sabrent USB 3.0 to an external SATA dual bay hard driveโ€ฆ

Not satisfied Computer Accessories & Peripherals

I also have a USB 3.0 version of this dock. I'm very happy with version 3.0, but they screwed up version 3.1 a bit. The USB cable is too short. I have to place the docking station on the floor under my desk to access the USB port on the back of my desktop computer. In version 3.0, the cable was long enough to put the device on a desk. It reminds me of Green Acres where the guy had to climb a telephone pole to answer the phone because there weren't enough wires. The switch is located between the

Run, don't go!

I left IT. I have over 35 years of computer experience. I'm just saying that I'm confident in what I do with computers. After 5 years I decided it was time to swap out my backup drives. I used one to backup two directories, the other to clone disk 0 of my machine. I used a 1TB WD and a 1TB Toshiba laptop. With these drives the total time for both jobs was about 4.5 hours but both were USB 2. So when I was looking for replacement drives I came across the Sabrent 3.0 dock on this site. I thoughtโ€ฆ

Fast and Reliable USB 3.1 HDD/SSD Docking Station

I have used Sabrent's USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 hard drive docking solutions in the past. When I needed to upgrade to the latest USB 3.1 standard, I turned to Sabrent for a hard drive docking solution because of the brand's excellent reliability and build quality. My USB 2.0 device which is over 10 years old still works great today, just like when I bought it, even after using over 80 drives in the device. The interface is fast, the build quality is what I've come to expect from Sabrent productsโ€ฆ

Great value for money but below average cloning.

Cloning is not perfect. I'll start with that. I tried 3 times to clone all windows drives but failed once. It either tries to boot and freezes or does nothing at all. It's probably fine for simple file transfers, but I wouldn't trust it for anything else. The rest of the build quality is excellent. It accommodates 2.5" and 3.5" drives very well. I am currently using it in conjunction with OpenMediaVault as a home server on a Dell Optiplex 390 Small Form Factor with a USB 3.0 expansion card. USB

  • Cable is shorter than other picks

Just bought it for my Lenovo USB-C 3.1 Gen2 with Thunderbolt. For use with the fastest hard drive available (WD Red Pro 7200 with 256MB cache). I installed the hardware and then made some test copies of the data from the PC to the hard drive. It started at 82 MB/s and then dropped to 72 MB/s. only 72? This docking station's specs promise "transfer rates up to 10 Gbps" (and that's a direct quote, copy/paste)! I used the included USB-C to USB Type-A cable to connect the device to my PC's Type-Aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Minor issues

the last 7 days without success. The drive will not mount on the crawler and the DISK UTILITY shows that the capacity of the drive is only 4.14GB. I got to the point where I refused to recover any data, so I tried to initialize the disk but I got the error message "Could not write to the last block of the device". This hard drive is only used for data backup and was working fine until I used this docking station. I have used a third party docking station before and have never had any problems.

It's actually USB 3.1 Gen2!

This item was purchased on December 21, 2018 from Store4PC. I bought it despite reading the reviews and wondering if it is indeed a Gen2 device. Firstly, it seems to me that there are multiple versions with the same model number (DS-UTC2) so you don't know what you're getting until you get your hands on it. There are reviews here that show off the circuit board which is the heart of this device. Mine is significantly different so I've attached a closeup photo showing the PCB version information

Not as fast as they say.

Hooked this thing up to a USB 3.1 motherboard and tried a 3.5 hard drive which can transfer up to 190MB internally but it will only be around 120MB. It's not bad for a USB connection, but they claim 10Gbps on the box. I understand it's supposed to be 5 Gbps in each direction, so even at 5 Gbps we should see more. I tried a 2.5" SSD and it was almost twice as fast, but still a long way from 5Gbps.

Didn't work: Hard drive accessory

Tried to clone a hard drive with this, I followed the instructions that came with it. It tried to start cloning and then cycled on and off. Then I tried to use it as a disk reader and clone it from my PC. Apparently it corrupted the drive when I first tried to clone it. Now everything that was on the hard drive is gone. Fifteen years of family photos and papers suck because they're junk.
