Review on Ardor Gauge Wiring Amplifier Installation by Tom Tofte

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Everything you need when you're on a tight budget.

Here you will find everything you need to install your amplifier. The wire has a powdery feel, doesn't stick to other wires, and helps pull the wire a little smoother. Although I would always recommend copper over aluminum as durability and performance are sacrificed when OFC is left out. Conductivity requires more effort to achieve what you need. One thing I noticed is that the wiring was loose and when I twisted it between my fingers it sounded crunchy, like the wiring was rubbing against itself. Amp through efficiency to get the design performance that can be coupled with the kit to be installed. I wouldn't recommend an 8AWG kit for a 500w amp at 50% efficiency, I would recommend a 4AWG kit. I use it on a 360 watt amp with a 25 amp fuse. I replaced the fuse on this kit with a 25A fuse that matches my amp so they match. Overstressing the CCA wire with a higher current results in more heat and a shorter life expectancy as the aluminum becomes more brittle when overheated. This isn't usually a problem, but if you mix heat and heavy vibration, the wires can snap, putting more stress on the remaining wires, and so on. The main reason for using CCA wires is that they are often half the price. OFC kits and even less trusted brands that guarantee their quality and purity while many eBay or Revain copper kits are iffy for the low price. So if you're on a budget or just using a small amp that doesn't draw a lot of power, a CCA kit will work just fine.
