Item arrived intact. It included a plastic measuring cup and instructions on how to disassemble and reassemble the 4-piece lid for cleaning. Lid requires assembly. I opened and closed the lid once a day for an average of 4 months and the seal was still tight. The jar can hold a 20-pound bag of rice with less than an inch of room under the closed lid, meaning the measuring cup has to be mostly dipped into the rice to close the lid when the jar is full (this is just an observation, not a problem)) The measuring cup is labeled "1/4", "1/2" and "3/4" but is not the same as the standard US cup. Filling to the "1/2" mark is actually 1/3 US cup; and the topping is actually 3/4 US Cup. Note: The handle on the lid is NOT for lifting and carrying the container! By depressing the handle, the rubber ring on the lid expands and fits snugly to the bucket, creating an airtight seal. Pulling the handle up releases the rubber ring and the lid easily pops off to reveal the contents of the bucket. If you need to move a heavy bucket, lift it by the sides and bottom, not the handle on the lid. This is perfectly normal for me as I don't often have to remove it from its reserved spot on the kitchen table.
