Short Replacement Executive Office Chair Gas Lift Cylinder Pneumatic Shock Absorber - Short Size - 3" Stroke/Adjustment Range - S6103 I was hoping this lift cylinder would work shorter than the one I had on my chair, which was quite "short" to begin with, ie. H. Allowing the seat of my chair to be adjusted to a low height. My first thought as to how to lower my chair was to swap out the wheels with a set of lower profile wheels, but none of the ones I found online were shorter in height. I saw that "slats" are available for changing wheels and I almost ordered a kit until I noticed that the existing support post (on the outside of the cylinder) on my chairlift was under/behind the length of the lift The base extends my chair relatively far and almost touches the floor (I now see that this "extension" of the floor allows the lift a relatively large range of lift, while g still allows for a relatively low seat height when the internal gas cylinder is fully compressed [smallest height]). This is an ingenious feature that allows you to lower the seat height and still provide plenty of travel. However, if I lowered the chair more than say half an inch (e.g. by replacing the wheels with glide wheels) the end of the cylinder would hit the floor. So I spotted this very "short" lift cylinder here on Revain and after reading the reviews (where yes the chairs were shorter) I ordered it. I just finished installing it. When comparing the old cylinder lift to this new, "short" lift, one obvious difference was the length of the bottom of the outer cylinders. Look at the photo of this short cylinder and you will see that the length from the bottom to where the cylinder expands is about 1-1/4 inch i.e. H. The distance from the bottom to the edge that will serve as a stop when the cylinder lift is placed in the base of the chair. This bottom of my old cylinder is about 2-3/4 inches. You can see that the minimum functional height is any distance from this edge to the lowest (shortest) position of the top of the cylinder at its fully compressed length. Well I was disappointed to notice a slight difference in the lowest seat height of my chair after the replacement. The lifting range is functionally "too short” on this lifting cylinder. Well, if she's sitting here, she can't be any shorter than an inch anyway. I think I'll keep this lift on my chair and keep the other one as a backup. I don't understand the design intent of this short jack that just shortens the lift range. This cylinder can easily be changed to be really short, lower at the base of the chair, simply by "moving" this rim up about an inch, which allows the cylinder to take a lower position at the base of the chair. (Then it will look/be the same as the one I replaced, with the end of the cylinder closer to the floor.) To me, the only good thing about this "short" elevator is that the end of the cylinder is now farther from the Boden and will let me try on some panties if I decide to. Otherwise, this short lift cylinder seems to be satisfactory anyway; It didn't live up to my expectations and that's why I rated it accordingly. If you just need a new cylinder lift, that's fine. If you're looking for something that allows your hips to be ergonomically and comfortably parallel to the floor (especially barefoot) without putting too much pressure on them from the chair seat, then this may not work for you; If you only need half an inch, make it.
