Short cylinders are hard to find

This short cylinder fits my chair perfectly while all the other 'universal' cylinders were too tall for this particular chair. Remove the top of the old one from the bottom of the chair with a pipe wrench and no other special pullers or tools. I had to pound a bit with a real hammer to get the bottom out of the base of the chair but it came out fine. The cylinder change took only a few minutes and the new one fitted perfectly. It's like a new chair.

Finally the perfect cylinder for my chair

I finally found this beautiful gas spring cylinder. This one holds my weight and hasn't worn out since I got it - every other one I've gotten before was the wrong height and broke quickly. This one, on the other hand, is well built and supports my weight, which is rare, and it's also the perfect height for my setup. I love it. Excellent gas lift cylinder. If you are looking for one of these cylinders to fix up your old office chair instead of spending money on a new office chair, this is the…

Great first impression

There don't seem to be many options on Amazon for a cylinder of this size. Thankfully, this one seems to be very well made! It holds its position well and has enough power to lift my chair quickly and smoothly when activated (and it's a pretty strong chair!). I also noticed that the activation button on it is wider and sturdier than on my old cylinder and any others I've seen on the matter. In practice, the armrest on the chair is easier and more comfortable to pull because it has a larger…

  • Not everything fits

I have a $400 office chair that I love and can't find anywhere (discontinued in 2011) and I was heartbroken when I saw the lift arm broke. Unfortunately these things usually break after 2-3 years of use (usually a small piece of plastic inside the lift arm breaks from years of carrying a lot of weight). Fortunately, most lift arms are similar and easy to swap out. Remember to measure the length of your old one and order the right size. I replaced my old one with this generic one in less than 2…

Not Quite Short Best of Home Office Desk Chairs

Short Replacement Executive Office Chair Gas Lift Cylinder Pneumatic Shock Absorber - Short Size - 3" Stroke/Adjustment Range - S6103 I was hoping this lift cylinder would work shorter than the one I had on my chair, which was quite "short" to begin with, ie. H. Allowing the seat of my chair to be adjusted to a low height. My first thought as to how to lower my chair was to swap out the wheels with a set of lower profile wheels, but none of the ones I found online were shorter in height. I saw…
