I use them for two purposes, one as a power switch for my Raspberry Pi and the other for an RCA to HDMI converter. The Pi can only be powered on by unplugging it and then plugging it back in, it's much easier and prevents the cord from getting tangled behind furniture when not in use. The same problem with the converter. Makes life easier. Neither has been heavily used in my home, but still holds the plugs great and is certainly easier than repeatedly unplugging and plugging them.
