Review on πŸ’¦ VIP50 Wayne Thermoplastic Portable Electric Water Removal Pump for Efficient Water Extraction by George Bell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great pump...but one wasn't enough.

We bought a house to live in for 2 years, renovate and/or renovate and sell to avoid capital gains. Everyone said there were no water problems in the area, but when we saw the ring around the basement wall and everything written on the bricks, it was key that the whole truth wasn't being told. The city was situated in a mountain valley and apparently had several underground waterways running through it, and as soon as the first spring thaw set in we realized we had a problem. Water began to seep through cracks in the concrete floor and along the base of the walls where they met the floor because the walls and floor were two separate pours of concrete. There were no latrines or a French drain so I dug a hole and threw it out thinking I could walk. The bottom was uneven so I couldn't direct all the water into the same corner so I needed two more holes. The city had a ban on pumping water into the sewer, so I had to install a drainpipe about 100 feet into the yard to distribute the pumped water. If you just run these pipes outside next to your house, you're really not going to do much. This pump was so good we took it to a neighbor's house, but even if I could pump all the water into a sump, it wouldn't handle the volume. My driveway now floods when the snow melts quickly so I have a hole next to it and I exit when I know it won't freeze.
