Review on Chrome Industries Merino Gaiter Black by Sean Huff

New blend of fabrics makes it awful

I'm a big fan of the chrome industry in general. I have a few items from their merino wool collection. Last year I was able to buy 3 leggings made of merino wool at a sale. The 2017/2018 model (double sided) is amazing. When I saw this blue poison I couldn't resist buying another one for the coming winter. Unfortunately, chrome has completely changed the material. While the old reversible model consists of merino wool, bamboo viscose and nylon, the latter consists only of polyester and merino wool. About 60% polyester. Aside from being too tight, it's also not breathable, hot and disgusting after an hour. It's only as hot as sweating in a plastic bag. This is a complete failure. Skip this model and look for reversible models. It's downright insulting that Chrome is charging the same $35 for this 2019 model as it did last year, when the build quality is nowhere near the same as previous generations. Let's just hope the Chrome folks put this thing on and suffer a little to go back to the old reversible model.

Pros
  • Super soft 65% polyester, 35% merino wool
Cons
