Such a cute and soft hat! Will keep baby's head and ears warm when visiting family in the Pacific Northwest this winter. She tolerated it while other hats we tried annoyed and frustrated her, so this hat's fit is definitely more comfortable and doesn't have a tight elastic band. The small size (6-12m) is perfect for my large headed 8 month old and still has room to grow. It has a circumference of 46 cm (95th percentile). I also ordered a medium just in case and it fits too, but instead I kept the small as it fits best. We never tied the laces to it, we just let them dangle, but I think tying them helps save the hat if you have a kid who likes to pull everything off their head. The only possible complaint about this hat is that sometimes it doesn't hold up straight when baby's head is moving from side to side and the ear piece is in front of her eyes, but again, with the tied cords I don't think so would be important. there was a problem.
