First, the upside- This self adhesive film goes on very easy, and it sticks incredibly well. I used it to cover my makeshift (Covid-19) desk top. It's a simple Formica surface, free of cracks and imperfections, so the film had a really stable base to be applied to. Make sure your surface is also cleaned, I used something called After Wash which is an alcohol based cleaner made to be a final wipe down prior to painting. I used a credit card to remove air bubbles as i moved from end to end. All that to say, installation went very well. At one point I realized that I needed to remove an area and it took considerable effort to remove. It came off clean (large chunks) and left little to no residue.Now, the downside - Maybe it was my application, a desk top, but I found that just having my chair swing into the edge caused the edges to wear very quickly to the point it tears away and looks awful. I even tried spraying a polyurethane top coat, but that didn't seem to help. I will add edge guards to protect it better.
