Review on Audio Technica AT6101 Leadwire PCOCC Cartridge by William Turner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Would buy again!

Wow! That's all I can say. I ordered them for the player. I quickly built and sold a turntable (Pioneer pl-112d) and after rewiring the arm wanted to use good but inexpensive wires. So I tried these. They just blew me up. I ordered a few more sets to have on hand and decided to replace the Cardas wires with these on my Stanton 681eee-s cartridge with fresh vintage NOS probes from my doomsday stock. He completely blew my socks off. This was installed on my second system on a Pioneer PL-550. I also used Cardas wire to rewire the tonearm. It sounded great at first, but after installing these cables I noticed that the overall tone coming from the Parasound HCa-1200 through my B&W speakers was a bit warmer and more open, but still crisp and clear across the spectrum. I mention gear I don't want to brag about. , but to show how they also work in high-end audiophile material. I want to buy this cable in bulk to replace the tonearm. They've been on my desk for a month now and I like to make sure I'm comfortable with the audio changes before I'm happy that they're good. or not at the moment. They have not broken away from the pl-550 and will not. My Cardas leaders are now in reserve, which is crazy. I am not at all negative about Cardas products, I love them and will continue to use their products. It's just one of those products that comes at a reasonable price. System synergies also come into play. The wire itself just feels premium, it's a bit stiff, but that's not really a problem. The clamps are the strongest metal I've ever come across and I'm a great mechanical engineer. I couldn't even squeeze them tighter with tweezers or hemostyptics. I had to snap off a small pair of needle nose pliers and insert a toothpick into the metal clip to avoid crushing it. These clips are not going anywhere and have a great connection with the pins. The insulation is strong, as is the colored shrink wrap at the joints. I think they look great, nice work and cool packaging. I don't normally give reviews like this but this product was so good.

Pros

Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
