Nothing wrong with using the light mode
To me they are perfect for connecting a TV directly to powered speakers where soundbars are absurdly expensive for their performance. The price of a bar is a premium for aesthetics, not sound quality. Be wise, spend on sound, not looks. The industry scam "optical" is not a standard at all, analog audio output needs consumer support, headphone output is still a compromise unless the TV has RCA audio output, which is due to dumb trends and hokey surround types has become rare tricks. The cables are clean and I don't need a subwoofer with my JBL 308mkII.
