Yes it's just a back comb. But because it's made of hard wood and not flexible bamboo, it actually helps with scratching better. I hate those back scratchers that are so flexible you can't apply pressure with them. It's good quality too. Not too spicy - doesn't hurt the skin but is nicely finished and satisfying when you have a mid-back itch. Also, I have to point out that I'm a VERY tall man and this length is just enough to reach my entire back without too much trouble. They should fit a more normal build! also easy to store away, or you can hang it on the hole at the end, or add a string to hang it up. I bought one but I'll buy a few more to have on hand (one for work!), order Recommend !
