I had to bend the "forked" tabs to get the starter to work. It installs easily on my Tecumseh HMSK80. When I pushed the start switch, I heard a loud grinding noise where the starter gear meshed with the flywheel. After spending a lot of time troubleshooting, I found a YouTube video that suggested bending the tabs at the top of the starter. They didn't have the same angle as the original. Adjusted slightly with pliers, reinstalled and it snapped into place properly. The starter gear is not as long as the original. This can affect durability.
