I use Kodi on RetroPie. I bought this case because my Raspberry Pi 3 Model B was overheating (over 80Β°C, resulting in an overheating icon on the top right of the screen) while decoding videos in the official Raspberry Pi plastic case. I've been looking at different cases for several hours and considered the option with a fan, but I've decided that maybe it's too loud. Then I found this. The entire top of the case is a heatsink and it works well. I used the included thermal pad on the SOC on the board. I didn't install any other radiators. I did some stress testing when I got it as I thought it might be more intense than decoding 1080p h265 video. The highest temperature I observed in ten minutes using the stress program (from the Raspbian repositories) was 65.5Β°C. I played a 20 minute video showing the overheating icon and during that time the highest temperature I noticed was 59.6C. Oh yeah, the case looks super nice too. Very cool. A definite improvement over the official red and white case in both looks and cooling potential.
