I bought some good fly swatters this year. This is my first knife with a hardwood handle. It looks good, but the wire handles certainly add more punch. It's really a matter of preference. Whichever grip you prefer, if the fly swatter hits an insect, it will most likely be mortally wounded. This fly swatter is a bit short but looks nice and functional. A leather fly swatter is riveted to the handle. My only real complaint is that mine arrived with a 1-2 inch cut on the surface of the treated side of the leather. It's purely cosmetic and after fixing a few bugs with it I'm sure it will make less and less of a difference. .
