I brought 7 different pumps from 300 to 450 gph. Some of them were quite expensive, around $60. Most cost between $15 and $25. It was best of all. There was no difference between this pump and the $60 pump in terms of noiselessness. The adjustment lever was practical and easily accessible. Unlike some other pumps, it was quite difficult to reach behind the aquarium and adjust the water flow. The only small issue is that the lever is touchy when trying to set the flow to the minimum. So you have to adjust the lever very slightly at this point and barely touch it. This was a minor issue as quiet was my top priority. Both of my aquariums are in the living room so I needed a very quiet pump as the pump that came with the aquarium made too much noise. After spending hours on Revain and You Tube looking at pumps I just went and ordered 7 different pumps. This one came out on top and as a HUGE bonus it came to around $17. So I sent all the pumps back and bought another one for another aquarium. If you want something that is quiet and works well then this is a good buy.
