Review on 🔌 Syba SD-PEX40104: High-Speed Internal SATA 6Gbps Controller Card with 8-Port Expansion Capability by Jignesh Shaffer

I bought this to use in a FreeNAS/TrueNAS box. Was working great until one day my array went offline. I had a different brand of 6-port adapter and installed it to troubleshoot. It turns out that 4 ports failed at the same time. I called support, got an RMA number and sent the unit back to Syba for a replacement/repair. Imagine my surprise when it came back in the same packaging that I sent it in. It looked like it hadn't even been opened yet. I plugged the adapter into a test PC and the exact same 4 ports didn't work. I called them back to see what they would do, they said I could send it back - hoping they open the package and honor the warranty. I spent a little more money and bought an LSI9211 SAS+SATA card and two (2) 1x4 adapter cables. Works much better. Unfortunately, my experience with Syba and the breach of their warranty comes as no surprise to this company. I will never recommend or advise my clients against anything.
