Sucking is best in car mounts

I bought this to mount a small Garmin on the dash. I was initially repelled by the sticky gel on the suction cup, but okay. installs the disc and then the suction cup. It lasted about a week, and then it started to go away and is still going away. What good is the telescope function if you can't craft a base to hold it?
