We bought our first set on eBay. We first bought it as a math manipulator, but the kids immediately started building with it. My 11-year-old Lego "master" inherited tens of thousands of Lego pieces. He really liked these snap cubes and asked me to get more. He immediately made weapons, flat characters, 3D characters and airplanes with it. As I said, my first order was on eBay and it was a used set. I came to Revain expecting the Learning Resources rigs to be of the same quality. Not correct! They were thin and "sharp" as mentioned by some other reviewers. On the other hand, this brand is very durable and goes well with our old used set. They are not "sharp" at all and it is convenient to build with them. Even my little 2 year old likes to play with it. I recommend a crisp set if you can wave it too. They are nicer to look at. You can use them with a light table. And they add a beautiful dimension to children's creations.
