Review on πŸ“ž Enhance Communication Efficiency with Grandstream GXP1620 HD IP Phone - Ideal for Small to Medium Businesses by Lisa Watson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Programming took some time; Power and Category 5 cables lift it off the table.

This phone offers high quality sound and reliable service from two different VoIP providers, VoIP.ms and Call Centric. After connecting the power adapter and Cat 5 internet cables to the bottom, I saw that they were sticking out from behind the snap-in kickstand and the phone shook a lot. Until I have a better solution, I'll use a thick book on which I lay the back half of the phone. It's not exactly sturdy and ugly, but I'll find cables with 90 degree connectors or give the platform a more comfortable shape. The VoIP.ms service initially worked well, but it took Call Centric weeks (including a pause to vent frustrations) to perform experimental configuration tweaks. I had to use online documentation from Grandstream (GS) and both VoIP services to get the job done. GS challenged me with different terms for certain things than I expected and I never saw the glossary. For example, they used PCMU as the codec name, which was fine, except the services used a different name for it, G711u. Neither of them mentioned an alternative name. Expect a long learning curve if you don't get a head start on VoIP terminology. I had a head start, programmed Obihai and Lynksys ATA devices and was still blind. Good luck - I've proved the concept and you probably can too! :-)
