Worst thing I have ever done to my goldfish. Three 30, 36 and 55 gallon tanks that have been in operation for 3 years. Ammonia levels were very high at 36 and 55. 30 was high but I found it bearable. Nitrates were high and nitrites were almost zero. I've recently added more gravel to all three tanks and switched to powerheads to run my underbody filters. The fish themselves were fine except for the ammonia level, so I figured I'd disturbed the biological processes in the tanks. I've tried ammonia neutralizers but to no avail. I changed the filter pads weekly, did a 25% water change every two weeks and vacuumed the gravel monthly, the water was clean and clear with no smell. So I decided to restore my biologics and added this substance at 36 and 55 in the morning, at 8pm I had a terrible cough in those two tanks. The 30 who didn't get any of the stuff were fine. At 9am my large Oranda also developed forked fins and became lethargic and floated in the corner at the top of the tank. Adding this stuff to my aquariums has been a nightmare. API Ickcurment, API Primafix and API Melafix are currently being dosed into all three tanks. Thankfully, after 40 years of goldfish farming, I've learned to keep important medications on hand. I have a separate quarantine tank for new and sick fish, but since this is a massive attack on my fish, a 10 gallon quarantine tank makes no sense. . IF I add it to all three tanks and all three had a fit I wouldn't complain too much about it assuming it was my fault for the poor water quality. However, since it was only added to two of the three and those two immediately gave hiccups, split fins, sluggish fish and god knows what else would happen, I can justify charging this product. The sad part of this, despite the flawed biology, the fish were healthy, happy and doing well if I add that because something was wrong with my tanks before I used this stuff but they don't deserve this idiocy. Update: 2 days later I lost 4 of my smallest goldfish in my bowfront. Did another 50% water change. The only tank that doesn't totally shake is the 30 that I didn't add that crap to. On the other hand, my large Oranda is slowly recovering in a 10 gallon hospital tank. I lost a 3" pearl scale, two 3" orandas and a fantail. Update 2: My big 9" Oranda passed away this morning. In all my years of breeding goldfish nothing like this has ever happened to me or my fish.
