Review on πŸ“’ Bachmore Sketchpad 9X12" Inch (68lb/100g), 100 Sheets TOP Spiral Bound Sketch Book for Professional & Amateur Artists, Ideal for Marker Art, Colored Pencil, and Charcoal Sketching by Lori Aguirre

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good inexpensive drawing pad

Addendum: The paper is actually very scratchy. It seems to grab a ton of graphite and pigment when you least want it and not at all when you want it. I'll take my comparison to the Lenox 100 (the Lenox has a thinner tooth). Ink and fountain pens almost seem to stick to the grain of the paper. So now 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise this is a good inexpensive drawing pad to take with you on a hike or to the beach or even just for regular use. The paper feels like a Lenox 100 lighter. Above is a photo of various pens and a pencil on them. The 3009 wing and Muji fountain have platinum carbon ink, and the rest of the pens have exactly the type of ink you would expect. The pencil is an old lead holder and the lead is also circa 1958 but feels like an HB. I've tried adjusting the contrast so the platinum ink in the image fits the page but I think it's still a bit light. I haven't had any bleeding problems. Even with a brush pen, the tooth of the paper feels a little rougher than I'd like for a pen and a little smoother than I'd like for a pencil, but both are decent as advertised. I'm sure if you sanded the surface lightly it would be great for charcoal and pencil, but it's pretty flimsy. I haven't tried it, but you must ruin 100 pages for 10 cents each.
