My son loves these blades because they don't irritate his face. The bottom line is these are great blades. We both started using a brush, shaving soap, and double-edged blades at the same time a little over a year ago. He prefers Proraso soap and Shark blades while I use Mitchell's Wool Fat soap and Astra Superior Platinum blades. I tried Shark Blades today and am impressed. I've also tried Proraso soap and it's a great soap, maybe better than Mitchell's, but I prefer the smell of Mitchell's Wool Fat soap. In any case, Shark, Astra, Mitchell's or Proraso are not the wrong choice here. Shark blades provide a close shave without cuts or irritation. I didn't particularly bother before shaving and didn't even bother to wet my face. I simply dampened the brush, soaped it, dipped the razor in warm water and shaved once, then repeated the process. My beard is medium thick and not particularly soft. The Shark blades did a great smooth and even job of trimming, pulling, pulling, biting or slicing my face without pain. Now I can switch between Astra and Shark; they are so close!
