
These sensors are prone to permanent damage when exposed to hydrocarbons as was the case with mine. The installation site must be carefully considered and the instructions followed to avoid sensor replacement. In most cases, the sensor can be installed well above the bottom of the case (at the level of the trigger), which provides cushioning to avoid contamination of the sensor. The mine was placed too low and dead in the hold rather than on the side, making it very vulnerable to contamination.
