As advertised - computers and accessories

Time will tell how armored it is, but it certainly has a structured, sturdy feel while still maintaining a sleek, attractive look. All ports have dust covers, which is certainly not often seen on laptops these days. Speaking of ports, there are plenty of them, even some of which are often missed in the 'simple' units, like the HDMI out and the actual LAN port, so you're not just limited to Wi-Fi. I was concerned as nowhere in the product description does it say there is no Bluetooth, but it's good that there is. I'm also concerned that the double-jointed hinges could be mistaken for tablet mode activation. The screen does NOT fold back. While it's nice to have a card reader, it's microSD only, standard SD cards won't fit. I have other quirks, like the half-up/down buttons, lack of a built-in number pad, and a blacked-out camera door, but there's nothing here to break the deal. Some might want to use the touchscreen, but that's just not going to happen at this price point, and the power savings of not having such a feature should be considered. I particularly like the 12 volt power supply. This makes the power supply/charging options much more versatile than traditional 19V power supplies. Make no mistake, this is a true Windows 10 machine with most of the connectivity you would expect from a 'mature' laptop. Of course an external drive is needed when lots of photos/videos/music are "required" by young adults, but it just makes them easier to move around. Given the features, a very comfortable keyboard, and some limited upgrade options, it should last a reasonable number of years. UPDATE FROM MY SON: (GIFT TO OUR 7 YEAR OLD GRANDSONS) - This is my child's first computer. She's been using it for a few weeks now and loves it. It feels solid when you hold it, and for the price, the performance is pretty decent. Out of the box, it ran much faster than expected because it didn't contain as much malware as other computers. I buy and regularly use rugged laptops for work that cost ten times or more than this one. Next time I need a cheap computer that can be abused a bit by a techie I'll try one of these. A few cons: (1) small screen which was known when we got it. (2) The screen is untouchable, it's 2021, come on. (3) To maintain waterproofing, covers must be installed when not connected to mains power (power, USB, Ethernet). These covers are cheap and seem to break eventually.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Hard to tell
