Review on πŸ”Š Mini Bluetooth Amplifier Stereo Desktop Receiver - Class D Bluetooth 5.0 Home Audio Amplifier TPA3116 50W x 2 (with Power Supply) by Aretha May

Nice little on-chip amp

I have several of these little on-chip amps including the Topping TP 20 MkII (which uses a Tripath 2020 chip) and the Topping TP22 (which uses a Tripath 2050 chip used) . This Aimpire amp goes well with both. His Texas Instruments TPA3116D2 chip seems to work fine. SETUP My RCA cords and banana plugs (for speaker wire) fit snugly into the input jacks and speaker jacks. When I plugged in the power adapter, which I had already plugged into my power strip, the input sparked and smelled like "electronic". I repeated the process to make sure it was an isolated incident and the device lit up again. Luckily the amp works fine, but shouldn't spark when the power supply is connected. I recommend powering up the amp before plugging in the power supply just to be on the safe side. AUDIO Switching on the amplifier until about 11 o'clock (no input signal) starts to hiss a little, but when listening to devices with line level (CD player). etc.) the amplifier plays loudly at 10:00 - 10:30, i.e. below this noise. The sound quality is very good (through my KEF Q100), for many people "high fidelity" is of course enough. Compared to my reference amp, there is a slight emphasis on the mids and a bit less bass here, which an audiophile will notice. But it's definitely a full-range amp and worth listening to. BLUETOOTH The amplifier connects quickly and easily to my Bluetooth transmitter. Please note that the amp will automatically reconnect to devices "that previously used Bluetooth" and that you must "disable Bluetooth on your device if using the RCA input". This can be a problem if you're listening through the RCA inputs, for example, and the amp detects and connects to a "Bluetooth Previous Use" signal. APPEARANCE, CONFORMITY AND FINISH Fit and finish. The volume rocker and power button feel solid. There are four rubber feet at the base that are neither too hard nor too soft. There's no indication of where it was made, but every other chip amp I've seen was made in China. Great little amp chip for the price. One star off for a spark issue, which can be a sign of long-term reliability issues. If I encounter any issues I will update this review by leaving a comment in the comment section. Note: The lengths and widths shown in the product photos are upside down (although they are otherwise correct).
