Review on 🚴 CycPlus A5 Rechargeable Portable Air Compressor Tire Inflator Electric Pump 12V DC with Digital Gauge LCD Display Emergency LED Light Handheld 150PSI High Pressure for Car Bike and Other Inflatables by Paul Letho

Great concept, minor flaws

I bought this portable tire inflator to use primarily on bikes. Build quality looks good although I had my doubts about the Presta adapter which looked like it was plastic but actually has a metal threaded insert and has held up well so far. I've tried the pump at various pressures and it works as expected, although its main drawback is the inaccuracy of the pressure gauge. It pumps about 10% more than set. I tested this with three separate digital gauges, which surprisingly read the same +/- 0.5psi. You can see in the attached photos that when I set the pump to 20psi it pumps to 22.5psi. Setting the pump to 85psi resulted in 94psi. Since it's linear, it's relatively easy to account for this imprecision. Pros: Compact and light, acceptable inflation times (23x700c inflates from zero to 94psi in a few minutes), decent power (I was able to inflate 5 23x700c tires). zero to 94 psi per charge). Cons: Gauge inaccuracy (about -10%), the hose next to the pump gets very hot when inflating the stock tires, although the manual says not to worry about that, you have to use a Presta adapter (it seems so looks like the hose has a standard fitting so I'll try to replace it with the one with the Presta end as I mostly use it for Presta valves). So, despite the relatively minor flaws, the pump works as expected and its convenience means I can easily pack it in my bike bag when I go to races. It would be worth paying a little more if the product had a switchable head between Presta and Schraeder valve types. I wouldn't recommend it as a primary car tire pump, but it's good for emergencies or small adjustments.

Pros
  • Tires and wheels
Cons
  • Crumpled
