This kit comes with 2 metal shafts with gears and 4 plastic rails. The larger metal shaft that replaces the normally broken metal and plastic in the original BMW engine fit and worked, although it made the engine noisier. The smaller metal shaft has splined ends that need to be connected to the drive cables that go to the latches. These splines were different than the factory ones on my car and the drive cables did NOT fit. 4 plastic sliders are much tighter than the originals. They are so tight I could barely slide them over the new metal shafts and I don't think they would allow the shafts to rotate without generating too much heat and resistance (the photo shows the old original plastic guides ).
