Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Versatile Clamping Tool: Positioning Aluminum Woodworking Carpenter for Enhanced Accuracy by Freddy Hammonds

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works fine, exactly.

Woodpeckers Tools (woodpeck dot com) seems to be the originator of this type of square clamp and their version's webpage says "Patent Pending" in bold on the webpage. This version, on the other hand, comes from a company called (I'm not kidding; see for yourself) "AFake". Hm. Anyway, this rectangular clip is well made and works well. Another reviewer notes that the Woodpeckers version has better and stronger threads on the L bars. It seems to me that the regular threads on these "AFake" clips are strong and durable enough to last quite a while. And some other reviewers say the L-bars aren't exactly 90ยฐ, and this can cause the clamp's moving jaw to tilt slightly. I haven't seen this problem on my set. You must avoid pushing the short end of the "L" too far into the hole in the aluminum part of the clip, otherwise the rounded part of the bend in the "L" will cause it to sit crooked, but this is also the case a problem with woodpecker originals. So it is recommended. Maybe you should get them soon, just in case Woodpeckers, Inc. gets their patent and (sort of?) is able to enforce it in China.
