Review on Camera Canon PowerShot G15 by Seunghyun Nahm ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The quality is at the highest level, be sure to try it.

I choose a compact camera to pair with my "reflex" camera with a dozen lenses. And therefore I approach this issue seriously, I walk around the shops and test. First of all, I check the matrix noise using a special test, since this problem can ruin all the other advantages. 1) Even if you shoot in JPG, the extremely small (negligible) noise starts from ISO 800-1000 and up to 1600 is quite working. I am shocked by such high parameters! Few competitors, even much more expensive ones, perform so well at high ISOs. However, many people will not notice this, since browsers and other primitive viewers clearly simplify images and suppress noise, regardless of the viewer's desire. It should only be viewed in Photoshop at 100% scale and on a high-quality monitor. 2) The situation is better in RAW. But where is it better?! Few cameras with larger matrices, incl. reflex cameras can boast such sensitivity. Despite the fact that I had never used a Canon camera before, this little girl liked the control - it does not disgust a person who is used to a professional camera with a lot of manual settings. All the necessary parameters are easily and quickly available. Summary. I think that an amateur is unlikely to buy this camera - he will prefer SONY or SAMSUNG, which, according to my tests, are terribly noisy. But a picky photographer who is looking for a second camera for his "DSLR" and who understands well what quality is, will be pleased, especially considering the low price.

Pros
  • Compact compared to the "SLR". Low noise level. Convenient management. Low price for now.
Cons
  • I would like a lens with a width of 24 mm. Optical viewfinder - however, you can ignore it
