I have children aged 5, 10, 12 and 13. They fit my 10 year old girls but are a bit small for older girls and too big for little ones. the girls liked it. The fabric is a little confusing - it's basically a windbreaker. The fingers and palm have a material that allows you to use the phone. I'm not really trying to encourage my kid to use the phone in the cold but... . . I think that's society now. The thumb is made of suede on the outside. The reason for this is not certain. The inside is made of soft, fluffy fleece material that keeps you nice and warm despite the thin outer fabric. There is a buckle on the back/top of the wrist and an elastic band on the front (bottom). We found that we had to put them on our daughter and then tighten them to make them more secure, but this helped keep snow from getting in as she played in them yesterday and today. This poses a problem if she needs to take them off for any reason. The cuff has a drawstring, which can also be tightened with a drawstring. Using these two the inside of the gloves was still dry after a few hours of play so I would say that they are waterproof as advertised.
