To get straight to the point: this is a disposable converter. It is NOT bi-directional. It adapts/converts a DVI-I port to a VGA port. INPUT - DVI, OUTPUT - VGA. Audio signals are NOT passed through this converter; VGA cables are not designed to carry audio signals, only video signals. So if audio is to be transmitted, you must make a separate additional audio connection. While VGA cables have been around since the dawn of personal computers, they are capable of carrying Hi-Def video signals.
