Review on 🌬️ Lüft Plug Indoor Air Quality Monitor by Patrick Matin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to use and provides peace of mind.

I've done a lot of research on radon detectors and as this is a relatively new piece of equipment I thought others would appreciate my feedback. if you are looking for the best radon monitor available. Why I wanted a monitor: When we lived in the Northeast, we always had radon tests done when buying and selling homes. We know radon is a health concern and while the last home we bought passed the test, we wanted peace of mind that radon levels would not increase over the long term. Why I chose SunRadon Air: I asked my home inspector what type of equipment they use and he said Sun Nuclear but the name has recently been changed to SunRadon. I did a little research and SunRadon started measuring radon over 30 years ago. I liked the idea of working with a company that has been doing this for a long time and is not a startup, with legitimate technology and decades of experience. I also liked that they cater to the professional market which is the high end of the market and are now bringing their technology to the consumer end of the market. I felt like I was getting more serious hardware from a more respected company than some other devices. I also really liked that their Backlash monitor is powered from a wall outlet. No batteries or wired connections and that it connects to Wi-Fi and provides my data in the app with no monthly fee. Initial Experience: I've read other reviews and there seems to be the usual amount of negative reviews indicating difficulties, but I've experienced none of that. The unit came out of the box professionally packaged, no rattling, just a solid little unit, well presented. The instructions were simple and short. It took about 10 minutes from start to start. Just plug in the backlash, download the app, register your backlash in the app, connect to WiFi and you're done. The app is intuitive and easy to use, especially if you are used to using other smart home devices. Note. I'm using an iPhone, so I can't verify Android. No problem getting started. Of course I bought it to measure radon, but I like that I get more than radon. The air app dashboard has six different dimensions in one view. Besides radon, I can control humidity, temperature, CO2 and volatile organic compounds - that's great. You get up-to-date moving average and long-term charts of all this data, and all load in real-time with the ability to zoom in or out. There are a lot of customization options if that's your kind of thing and I've done quite a few of them but honestly haven't worked with all of those features yet. A few months later: Despite what several other reviews say, the gauges are accurate. I typically measure between 1.5 and 1.9 pC/L (the actual or "safe" threshold is 4.0 pC/L). Also, I can see the impact of specific events on my data. For example, if we leave the windows open for several days when the weather is nice, the radon levels begin to drop during this time. It should be noted that radon monitoring (like many types of monitoring) is the most accurate and meaningful when compared to long-term averages. As such, some of the other products that mention faster or instant results are a bit misleading because they are very short term/instantaneous. Radon readings are irrelevant and not even accurate. For this reason, a professional property test conducted by a professional takes at least 48 hours and is conducted in a controlled environment with doors and windows closed, rather than 10 minutes or even a few hours. What you need to know about radon is a long-term average, not minute-to-hour fluctuations. High long-term averages make radon deadly, not fluctuations over a day or an hour. This is where SunRADON's experience and knowledge comes into play, as it alerts you to long-term radon trends. It's worth noting that I can also see the change in temperature and humidity with weather changes and whatnot. I also appreciate two additional features: Reports - I've set up the luft app to automatically email reports so I don't have to manually open the app and view the data. It's not what I expected, but it's a good way to check the details from time to time without forgetting to open the app. In the settings you can set it as a night light. At night I use warm white light - a useful feature for my basement. Conclusion: The device is reliable and easy to use, even for non-technical people like me. I sleep better knowing that this device is constantly watching me in the background as radon is a real threat that's easy to forget until it's too late. I also really like that the device is made by the same company that is a recognized leader in the professional part of this market. I feel like it's worth a little more for that peace of mind.
