I washed and dried it thoroughly and then filled it with dehydrated potato flakes which I use to make mashed potatoes. The lid fits snugly, so it's better than the old plastic cereal container I used before. The spout fits this food storage and I don't have to look for a measuring cup as the screw cap has the sizes listed. It also provides a good seal to protect against insects and seal food. The added height of the spout and measuring cap/cup makes this container tall. I had to turn it sideways to get it under the ledge and onto the shelf in the pantry. The width of the container is comfortable to grip. It's flat on one end, so I taped instructions I cut out of a discarded grocery bag.
