its heating mat doesn't heat up well over the substrate. However, the first one broke; Although it appeared physically normal except that it was very dusty, a rattling noise was heard from inside and white, chalky dust oozed out. I tried plugging it into a lamp but it didn't get hot. I sent the first bulb back for replacement. When the replacement came everything seemed fine - no dust, no rattling, no chalk, and when I tried to put it in the lamp it didn't get hot. I tried again with a different bulb and socket and it still didn't get hot. Very disappointed as it means my snake has more time before it can get a proper warm spot.
