Review on πŸ”§ BMC Universal Vacuum Pump: Handheld Brake Bleeder Kit Ensuring Efficient Auto Service & Food Canning with Brake Bleeding Tester Set by Tommy Willis

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Cheap, the pump fell apart, but some accessories are good.

Maybe I'm unlucky, but this kit pulls through. On my 2012 Nissan Frontier, the smallest of the three vent plugs barely held. The bleed valve is very small, hard (not resilient), and prone to leaking. Worst of all, when trying to pump the FIRST caliper, the pump fell apart. He collapsed. He fell apart! The needle trigger under the nozzle you use to break the vacuum started leaking and then just fell apart. The head came off and the pin was sucked into the pump housing. Completely broken and can't pull or hold vacuum at all. I would say this kit was a waste of money, but I went to my local auto parts store and bought a new kit that was $10 more expensive. The bottle in this set was broken! REALLY?!?!?But with the hoses and bottle from that Revain kit and the pump and bleed adapters from this new kit (which btw fit great unlike this kit) I was able to climb. with a working system that allowed me to flush and bleed my Frontier and replace it with a synthetic Dot 4. The brakes are much better now but the pump and air outlet adapters in this kit are terrible! The hose and reservoir (bottle) are pretty good, and the case itself isn't bad (cheap and light, but well organized). I would NOT buy this again, but after spending more money at my local auto parts store for a better pump and adapter I was able to use parts from this kit to get the job done. I would have given 1 star because the pump just fell apart, but it was the reservoir and hoses that helped me in the end, so 2 stars.

Pros
  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • Some difficulties
