Review on 🐠 Kessil A160WE LED Aquarium Light with Controllable Features by Holly Smith

Fantastic LED aquarium lighting! I really can't say how good the Kessil A160WE really is, you have to see for yourself. I have had aquariums, both freshwater and saltwater, for over 35 years. I've used pretty much every type of aquarium light at some point. This is the best to date. I started using LEDs about 6 years ago and was quickly convinced of their benefits - good plant growth, cool running, low power consumption etc. Marineland's LED strips were as good as they can get until I started Jacob's Aquarium to watch on YouTube. Great channel, if you haven't already opened it by the way, thanks Jacob. Jacob is browsing the Kessil line and I was impressed enough to order one of these bad boys for my 30 gallon fresh water tank (30LX12WX18D). Normally the price would make me think, but that was one of my crazy moments and I ordered it. I also ordered a gooseneck mount and a Kessil Spectral Controller. I set everything up in about 30 minutes - not bad for an old man like me who needs to understand electronic controller programming. Mine is set 5 inches above the waterline - about 19 inches above the substrate. The coverage in my aquarium is excellent, although it's supposedly only good for a 24 inch spread. There's some reduction in intensity at the edges of the 30-inch length, but that's not really an issue. You can manually control the spectrum and intensity with the knobs on the top of the device, but using the controller is fantastic as you can set it to mimic the intensity and spectral structure of natural daylight and turn the system on and off automatically turns off. And plants, and the fish responded very strongly to that. Fish behavior is now based on the "time of day" this light produces and plant growth has been great. As others have said, the flicker produced enhances the effect of natural sunlight and is just cool to look at. It's expensive, but it's worth it, your plants and fish will thank you.
