So I bought this and been a good Leary but I love love love leather purses or saddlebags so I tried. It's smaller than I wanted, but enough to get through. Perhaps a teenager in their early twenties would be ideal. There is no extra room in it for a mother who clearly carries too much junk around with her, including masks for all of us. It has my wallet, my phone, my keys, and some makeup like lipstick and mascara, but that's about it. I still love the wallet, I use it every day. There's no smell other than leather, which I'm a farm/rodeo girl, so I not only expect that smell, I look for it when I'm buying something made out of leather. It doesn't stink at all!
